St Mary-the-Virgin Episcopal Church is a Scottish Charity - Charity Number: SC001441
St. Mary’s Episcopal Church
The St Mary’s community continues to pray, with thanks and immense gratitude, for all who are working tirelessly to help and care for those affected by Covid-19.
We remember, especially, those in the NHS, care homes, in transport and other support services, throughout the country, who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe.
And we continue to pray for and thank all whose work behind the scenes helps to ensure our health and well-being through the provision and continuity of essential services.
We invite you to join us each Thursday via our website:
STROMNESS WRITING GROUP
In line with advice regarding the Covid 19 crisis the Stromness Writing Group will not be meeting for the foreseeable future and until such time the local health authority confirm groups can meet again.
ORKNEY FOOD BANK
Donations of food staples may be placed in the basket at the back of the church. Our goal is to have a full basket by the first Sunday of the month. Items especially required at present are long life semi skimmed milk, cartons of apple and orange juice or squash of any flavour, plus the usual tinned food staples.
REPORT ON THE FOY
The Autumn Foy was a great success. Donations on the evening as well as a generous gift from a member have increased the Music and Art Fund by £250.
Canon Tom Miller
We are very grateful to Canon Tom Miller for his ministry over the past four years. Tom has retired and returned to his native New York, though we expect that he will be visiting Orkney before too long!
We are in the process of recruiting Tom’s successor
